QUESNEL RIVER
ARCHERS
Early in April the two Archery clubs in Quesnel (the Broken Arrow and Quesnel
Archers) combined to become the Quesnel River Archers.  This new organization
has over 140 members.  Approximately 90 adults members and 50 JOP archers
creating a club that rivals places like Prince George in size.  They welcome
enquiring persons out to any of their functions.  Please contact President George
Walker or Michael Wright at michaelwright@shaw.ca for further information.

March 23 - 25, 2007 the Quesnel Archers hosted a Regional Archery Competition at
Alex Fraser Park.

The weekend of April 7th and 8th saw more than 100 Archers in Quesnel for the
BCAA Indoor Provincials.  Walker said the camaraderie at archery events is a big
draw for competitors.  "People don't realize the camaraderie in archery is not like
most sports.  You're not competing against others, you're competing against
yourself and trying to better your score."

Competitors competed in 30 categories ranging in ages from seven to 65.  A major
skill required is the ability to concentrate.  A archer must stay focused and shoot
straight.  Walker adds, "The bulls eye is not much larger than a loonie."

At Provincials, competitors shot paper targets from 18 metres.
